Tornados Running Club Presents the Cinco de Mayo 5k Run/Walk

We are happy to announce that on May 6th, 2017 we will be hosting our annual Cinco de Mayo 5k Run/Walk. We started cinco2this race back in 2005 to help raise money to give back to the Latino community. Our main goal was to provide some assistance to high school seniors, with plans for college, and since then have given 12 scholarships totaling $40,800.

This year we will be back out at Bear Creek Park (Pavilion #6), which is a certified two loop course through park streets. Start time is 7:30am which leaves plenty of time for you to finish, eat breakfast tacos, drink a beer or two, and dance to some music. Timing will be by chip and there will be awards for all categories.

Want to make this a family race? Bring out the kids for our 1k Run/Walk where they also earn a medal for crossing the finish line! There will be two piñatas for them to take a swing at and take some candy home as well.

• Early registration through 4/28 is $25
• Same-day registration is $30
• $10 for seniors and children (1K)
• Packet Pick-Up Wednesday May 3rd at Memorial Park Running Center
• Packet Pick-up Friday May 5th at CoCos Crepes on Washington

  1. Looking for a team to join. I ran into one of your runners at the Trolley Run this morning, and he was telling me about your club. I am an old timer, 69 yrs. young. My goal is to run in the Senior Olympics in the summer of 2019.

    • Hi Pete, the we have a Tuesday workout at Heights High School at 6PM. Currently, most are running the Tour de Bayou on Tuesday, there are only 2 more tour de bayou races, then the majority will move back to Heights. There is also a Thursday workout at memorial park at 6PM(meet at the stretching deck.) There is also a long run on Sundays starting between 6:00-7:00 meeting at the park.
